(from an average of 40 year old vines, most of which are situated in Pre de Manche near Monthelie). While clearly ripe, this is presently aromatically austere and reserved with clear minerality suffusing the tight green fruit nose followed by barely medium weight flavors highlighted by bracing acidity. There is real vibrancy here and I very much like the style though the 2001 Meursault will clearly need some time to harmonize.

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
